Getting Started

Add sushii to your server and get set up

Invite sushii

Add sushii to your server. Make sure to grant all requested permissions — sushii needs them to log messages, manage roles, and take moderation actions.

Open the settings panel

Run /settings in any channel. This opens an interactive menu where you can enable features and configure channels for logs.

Most features are disabled by default and need to be turned on here before they do anything.

Set up a mod log channel

If you plan to use sushii for moderation, the most important first step is pointing it to a private moderation log channel:

/settings → Logging → Mod Log Channel

Once set, sushii will post every moderation case there — including actions taken with Discord's native timeout, kick, and ban, not just sushii commands.

Enable the features you want

From /settings you can also configure:

  • Message logging — edits, deletes, and who reacted to what
  • Member logging — join and leave activity
  • Reaction logging — reaction removals and who added reactions
  • Welcome messages — custom join/leave messages sent to a channel
  • Moderation DMs — toggle and customize the messages sent to users when they're warned, timed out, kicked, or banned
  • Automod — spam detection and an alerts channel for automod actions

You don't have to set everything up at once. Come back to /settings whenever you're ready to add more.

Setting up XP & Leveling

XP earning is on by default once members start chatting. To reward members for reaching certain levels, use /levelrole:

/levelrole new role:<role> add_level:<level>

Optionally set remove_level if you want the role removed when the member reaches a higher tier (role progression).

To stop XP from being earned in specific channels or by specific roles:

/xp block channel <channel>
/xp block role <role>
/xp block list

See the XP & Levels guide for more detail.

Setting up role menus

Role menus let members self-assign roles from an interactive message. They are configured with /rolemenu, not /settings.

/rolemenu create menu_name:<name>

This opens an interactive builder where you can add roles, set descriptions and emoji, and cap how many roles a member can pick at once. When you're done, use the Finish button and then /rolemenu send to post it to a channel.
